Last March, NJPIRG’s Dena Mottola, Assemblywoman Bonnie Watson-Coleman, BPU President Jeanne Fox, NJPIRG’s Emily Rusch and NEEP Director Sue Coakley watched as Acting Governor Dick Codey signed the Energy Efficiency Standards Act into law.
Brief Summary
New Jersey wastes too much energy providing for our electricity needs. As a
result we pay more for energy than we should and we strain our electric system,
resulting in reliability problems. What is worse, our health and our environment
suffer from power plant pollution.
Energy efficiency is the
quickest, cheapest and cleanest way to get smart about energy use, stop our
electricity bills from going through the roof, and avoid blackouts.
We should start by passing
minimum energy efficiency standards for common appliances. More.
