As the organizing director, Dan oversees NJPIRG's campus organizers and works with student leaders to run successful campaigns. Prior to joining the NJPIRG team Dan was the Assistant Organizing Director for CALPIRG Students based in Berkeley. She worked with students and organizers to stop student loan interest rates from doubling, teach 30,000 kids about energy efficiency, and pass over 50 plastic bag bans in cities and counties across the state.
Dan got her start as an intern for CALPIRG in 2005 at UC Davis and came on to staff in 2008. Her first three years on staff she was a campus organizer at UC Santa Cruz, UC Berkeley, and finally UCLA – she recruited and worked with over 200 interns on public interest campaigns. In 2010, Dan oversaw eight campuses in southern California to successfully defeat Prop 23, the dirty oil proposition. She directed summer canvass offices across the state that raised over half a million dollars.
Dan graduated from the University of California - Davis in 2008 in Political Science and Environmental Policy Analysis and Planning.
